4 Day Training & Practice
Open Silver Paddling Expeditions
Silver DofE by canoe or kayak has become very popular in recent years, it gives the participants the ability to learn new skill whilst expeditioning. For our Silver paddling expeditions we use The Thames these locations allow the participants to gain a real sense of adventure. Below are the details of each of the expeditions, Training, Practice and Assessment.
TRAINING & PRACTICE
4 day 3 night training & practice on the Thames.
During the four days the groups will experience a mixture of directly and remotely supervised planned activity. During the training days, we focus on the paddlesports skills you will require during your expedition, such as, moving the boat forwards, backwards and sideways, capsize and rescue skills and boat packing. Having these skills will enable your to successfully complete your practice expedition being remotely supervised. In addition to the paddlesports skills as part of the training and practice expeditions you will learn skills such as, Navigation, Route Planning, First Aid, Emergency Procedures, Camp Craft, Expedition cooking and Nutrition, Health and Safety, and Kit requirements.
3 Day, 2 Night assessed expedition on the Thames.
During the assessment you will be overseen by an external assessor accredited to the DofE. They will be ensuring you and your group adhere to the 20 conditions.
Cost: £456 (inc. VAT) – Per Person for training & practice and assessment expeditions.
We require a 20% deposit to book and secure your place, final payment and your online medical and consent from will need to be completed by the 6th of March 2019 for both date options.

Thank you Matt, Charlie & Debs! I just wanted to drop you an email to say thank you so much for everything on this expedition. It really opened my eyes to what I myself could achieve and what our group could achieve in the face of challenging conditions. I know I surprised myself and I'm sure the whole group realised afterwards what a difficult expedition that was and how well we tackled it.Matthew, Open Gold Participant 2017
Your continued support, stories and banter really was welcome! Looking back now I'm so grateful for the opportunity, the staff that accompanied it and just the fact that we did it!
